FTISLAND’s Choi Jong Hoon Is Single No More
Choi Jong Hoon, 27, the leader of the South Korean rock band FTISLAND, is no longer single. His agency FNC Entertainment has confirmed that he is dating former national rhythmic gymnast Son Yeon Jae, 23.
In a statement obtained by Soompi, FTISLAND said they have confirmed that Choi and Son are really dating and getting to know each other. "Please look on them kindly," the agency added.
Choi and Son reportedly met in February through an acquaintance and started dating in May. Reports claim that he threw a surprise party for her on her birthday on May 28 and she attended FTISLAND's concert titled "FT Island Arena Tour 2017-United Shadows" in Japan.
Neither Choi nor Son has been involved in a publicized romantic relationship with another celebrity. The two have yet to release a personal comment on their relationship.
Son is the second cousin of figure skater Yun Yea Ji. The former became the first Korean Rhythmic Gymnast to qualify and reach the All-around Finals at the Olympics in 2012
In 2016, Son finished fourth in the rhythmic gymnastics individual all-around final at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. After that, she decided to retire from rhythmic gymnastics and enroll at Yonsei University.
On the other hand, Choi has been attending the University of Suwon since March 2, 2009. She is studying digital music along with former FTISLAND member Oh Won Bin.
FTISLAND is considered the first ever K-pop idol band. On June 7, the group celebrated its 10th anniversary with the release of a new album titled "Over10 Years," which has 13 tracks including a remake of their debut single "Love Sick," according to Billboard.
Oh left FTISLAND in 2009, which was two years after FNC Entertainment formed the rock band. Song Seung Hyun was then added as a new member of the rock band formed by joining Choi, Lee Hong Gi and Lee Jae In.
