‘Produce 101’ Season 2 Updates: Mnet To Produce Reality Show For Winners? Season 3 Also Already In Discussion

Now that the top-rating survival program is nearing its end, there's been numerous reports of Mnet producing a reality variety show for the winners of 'Produce 101 Season 2' and talks about a season 3 are already getting louder as well. Reports say that just like last season's 'Standby I.O.I', the top 11 male trainees will reportedly appear on a new variety program by Mnet.

Mnet claims, however, that nothing has been decided yet. On June 13, the network said, "Nothing has been confirmed regarding reports of anything to do with 'Produce 101 Season 2' that were made today. While we are currently in talks with the members appearing on tvN's 'SNL Korea 9,' it is not confirmed. Also, season 3 and the reality variety show is something that will be discussed later, as we are currently getting ready for the final live broadcast. It isn't something that we can decide on right away as of yet."

According to sources from Mnet, the network is currently focusing on the final episode of 'Produce 101 Season 2'. They said, "The staff is focusing on the final live broadcast. Afterward, the related content will be determined." It was further reiterated that nothing has been decided yet regarding the reported variety show for the winners. Sources from Mnet further reveal that the network is discussing a season 3 of 'Produce 101'. Mnet confirmed that season 3 is currently in talks, saying, "We are currently discussing the possibility of a third season. Producing director (PD) Ahn Joon Young has been with us for the past two seasons, but we don't know if he'll be the producer again. We also haven't decided if it'll be a male or female version." Meanwhile, media outlets stated that the winners of 'Produce 101 Season 2' will be making their first variety show guesting on 'SNL Korea 9'.
