Tony Awards 2017 Complete List of Winners; Bette Midler Finally Won Best Lead Actress for Musical

The 71st Tony Awards finally took place on June 11 at Radio City Music Hall in New York. "Hello, Dolly!" emerged as the big winner of the night, taking home several major awards. The newest musical "Dear Evan Hansen" also bagged one of the most coveted trophies of the night by winning the Best Musical Award.

In addition, Ben Platt also won the lead actor award for "Dear Evan Hansen." The musical actor accepted his award with a speech that obviously moved the audience. 

Bette Midler took home the best lead actress award for "Hello, Dolly!" a musical that won the best revival of a musical trophy. Midler also gave a hilarious but noteworthy speech herself.

Other big winners at the 71st Tony Awards are "Oslo" and August Wilson's "Jitney" for best play and best revival of a play, respectively. Below are the best actors and actresses for musical and play categories:

"Dear Evan Hansen" was awarded the best musical while the best revival in a musical award went to "Hello, Dolly!" For the best leading actor in a musical, it was Kevin Kline who won for "Present Laughter" and Laurie Metcalf for "A Doll's House Part 2" got the best leading actress award.

For musical, Ben Platt won the leading actor for "Dear Evan Hansen" and many agreed with the recognition. On the other hand, Bette Midler finally won the best leading actress for "Hello, Dolly!"

Michael Aronov for "Oslo" took home the best featured actor for a play while Cynthia Nixon for "The Little Foxes" won the same award for actress category. Best featured actor and actress for musical are Gavin Creel for "Hello, Dolly!" and Rachel Bay Jones for "Dear Evan Hansen.

There were special awards as well like the lifetime achievement award in the theater that was given to James Earl Jones. Check out the rest of the winners at the Tony Awards website.

The 71st Tony Awards was hosted by "House of Cards" star Kevin Spacey. According to CNN, people might not know that the actor was also in theater and in fact, he won a Tony Award for his role in "Lost in Yonkers" in 1991.
