He was K-pop's best-selling artist in the late 90s and early 2000s, but now he is banished from the country and has been denied reentry more than once. He is none other than "Yoo Seung Jun".

Yoo Seung Jun was a popular solo artist back in the glory days of the late 90s. He was the first K-pop artist that was able to dodge military enlistment by becoming an American citizen and leaving his Korean citizenship behind. This might have seemed like a clever move on Yoo Seung Jun's part but it was not, he ended up getting banished from Korea as he had previously promised to enlist in the army on many occasions and different social platforms as well.

After his banishment, Yoo was able to secure an acting career in China under Jackie Chan's acting agency. Since his banishment, Yoo Seung Jun has tried to request reentry into the country more than once. In 2013, there were even rumors about the ban being lifted, but the Korean military was quick to dismiss these rumors by saying that Yoo Seung Jun's banishment was still intact.

In 2015, he released a video of himself tearing up and apologizing to the nation and confessing that he would enlist in the military if it meant him getting back his South Korean Citizenship. All was good until he turned the camera off and started cursing. Yoo Seung Jun was under the impression that he disconnected the feed, hence the singer went on to curse and say things after recording the tearful video.

Unfortunately, his mic was still on, and everybody watching the feed could clearly hear all the abuses and tantrums Yoo was throwing. This nullified any sympathy that he might have gained with the people, and his chances of returning to Korea were simply washed away.

He filed lawsuits in 2015 and 2016 in order to get his citizenship back, but was denied entry due to the following reason, "lower the morale of young adults who are currently sacrificing themselves to serve their country, and have a negative impact on youth."
