According to the description of "Reign" Season 4 Episode 16, Mary makes a significant decision that changes the course of history, the future of her nation and her newborn. She is forced to make some dangerous decisions that put her and other life in danger.
Meanwhile, in "Reign" Season 4 finale, Elizabeth prepares for the war. She is the one who initiates Mary's execution. Later, however, she realizes that they might be more similar.
"Mary (Adelaide Kane) makes a decision that will change the course of history -- forever shaping the fate of her nation, her crown, and her newborn son. Mary's perilous move for her survival causes the stunning realization that perhaps she is not the only one who may not survive. It must be noted that "Reign" Season 4, Episode 16 happens to be the series finale. The episode titled "All it Cost Her..." will reveal how Mary and Elizabeth's story come to an end. It remains to be seen whether or not "Reign's" finale will stay true to history.
In an interview with TV Line, actress Adelaide Kane talked about the end of "Reign" Season 4 and whether or not Mary will be executed after Elizabeth signs her death warrant.
"We have taken some very generous creative liberties with our storylines, but we have kept the bones fairly accurate. I mean, if we were going to throw the baby out with the bathwater, we would have had Francis live. And then none of this would have happened!" Kane said.
