British Fashion Awards 2015: Karl Lagerfeld Recipient Of Outstanding Achievement Award!
German artist, photographer and fashion designer Karl Otto Lagerfeld, will receive the Outstanding Achievement accolade at the British Fashion Awards 2015, Daily Mail reported.
The 82 year old designer will be honored for his contributions to the fashion industry, as Fendi's and Chanel's creative director.
Vogue's editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, iD Magazine founders Tricia and Terry Jones, and designer Manolo Blahnik were previous winners of the award.
"Karl Lagerfeld defines outstanding." says Natalie Massenet, Chairman of the British Fashion Council. "He is the champion of excellence, the master of the exceptional and one of the most iconic figures globally from our industry."
The Paris based designer is recognized around the world for his trademark; black glasses, ponytailed white hair, and high starched collars.
Karl Lagerfeld was born in September 1933 in Hamburg, Germany. His father Otto Lagerfeld owned a company that imported and produced evaporated milk. His mother Elisabeth Bahlmann was a lingerie saleswoman.
A member of fashion royalty, Lagerfeld said when it comes to his companies, he just does what he wants.
"I'm not into business. I don't ever think in terms of business." says Lagerfeld. "I don't go to meetings, I don't do marketing things, nothing, I just think, 'Let's try this, let's do this, let's do this.'"
Since 1983 the Chanel staples, chain handle quilted bags, bouclé tweed jackets and the double-C logo have blossomed under the creative direction of Lagerfeld, reports Vogue.
The designer is about to have his very own virtual boutique in Paris and an avatar on the game "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood." It's an iPhone and iPad application by Glu Mobile, a company that has 30 million active users.
Karl Lagerfeld has mentioned in the past that he would like his legacy to be as a "one-man multinational fashion phenomenon."
Karl Lagerfeld is expected to attend the British Fashion Awards on Nov. 23, which will take place at London's Coliseum.
