‘Produce 101 Season 2’ To Change Voting System?

On May 24, a source from Produce 101 Season 2 revealed that they were in the middle of discussing whether they will change the voting format of the show or not. Originally, viewers and fans can vote up to 11 trainees but rumors are going around that during the 3rd elimination, the voting system will change.

In the first season of Produce 101, the voting system was changed during the 3rd elimination. Last year, instead of voting for 11 people, it changed its system so that viewers can only vote for one contestant to determine who will be eliminated during the third round. Now, viewers are speculating whether Season 2 will follow the previous pattern of the show.

This season, the public can also vote for 11 people. The 2nd elimination is over and the results are set to air on May 26. After which, the next round of voting will start again. The source from Produce 101 Season 2 claims that there is no final decision to change the voting system on the website yet, claiming, "We are currently exploring all possibilities regarding whether the number of people that viewers can vote for in the third round will be lessened from 11 to one. (Our decision) will be revealed during the (May 26) broadcast."

On last week's episode of Produce 101 Season 2, the trainees underwent a position-based evaluation where top 3 trainees will be chosen as winners for each category - vocal, dance, and rap. To recap, trainee Noh Tae Hyun took the number 1 spot for dance, Lee Gun Hee topped the vocal category, and Kim Jonghyun won 1st place for rap. The winners automatically got the promised benefit votes that amounted up to an additional 100,000 votes. The usual favorites like Park Ji Hoon, Kim Samuel, and Ong Seung Woo did not manage to get top ranks for the position-based evaluation. Stay tuned for more updates on Produce 101 Season 2!
