Super Junior’s Kyuhyun Says Goodbye Before Leaving For Military Service
Super Junior member Kyuhyun was previously reported to record for Radio Star before he enlists in the military. Though Kyuhyun originally filmed his last episode on May 3, the two made arrangements so that Kyuhyun will be able to attend Radio Star's 10th-anniversary episode, which was recorded on May 24, a day before his enlistment.
On the May 24th episode of the show, the Super Junior member shared his feelings about leaving the show. He said, "This is Cho Kyuhyun who wants to be your 'Radio Star' MC forever but has to enlist tomorrow." Kyuhyun continued, "It's already been 5 years and a half since I've been here. The show was responsible for my, as well as your Wednesdays for the past 5 years and a half. Wednesdays were happiness. It's a grateful program that allowed me to be where I am today."
His fellow Radio Star hosts laughed and joked, "You probably prepared all that." On May 23, Kyuhyun also released a single as a parting message to his fans called 'Goodbye For Now'. Though the lyrics of the ballad song tells a story of a man who wants to reunite with a past love, it is said to be a farewell message dedicated to his fans before his mandatory military enlistment. The song 'Goodbye For Now' dropped on the 25th and immediately debuted at the top of the charts. SM Entertainment also released a bittersweet music video of the track.
Kyuhyun, the youngest of the boy group, will be the last member of Super Junior to enlist in the military. It was said that Super Junior will be making a comeback this year after other members currently serving in the military are discharged in the fall. But for now, fans will see Kyuhyun off and bid him a temporary goodbye until he is discharged in 2 years.
