In other news, clamshells hit success in the early 2000s, and the most popular were the Motorola Razr, although Samsung also came out with some clamshells like the Convoy 3, t159 and Gusto 3. Incidentally, the cheaper foldable handsets are popular among the elderly in South Korea, Gizbot reported.

Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 was launched in 2016, just weeks following the launch of the premium Galaxy S8. It is important to note, however, that the handsets had limited availability, with W2017 being sold only in China, CNET reported.
