Perez Hilton’s Comments About BTS Angers Fans And Celebrities Tweet About BTS!
As of writing, BTS is at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas making Hallyu history. The group was invited to the event as nominees for Top Social Artist. Fans have been worried that since this is the first time a K-pop group was attending the prestigious event, people who are unfamiliar with K-pop might make offensive comments. True enough, popular blogger and personality Perez Hilton made fans quite upset with his recent tweets about the 7-member boy group.
On the morning of May 22, Perez Hilton tweeted about the sexuality of BTS. The blogger was there at the magenta carpet along with a few media outlets to do a couple interviews with the stars. At first, Perez tweeted, "Those @BTS_twt boys are so cute!" and followed it with, "Are any of @BTS_twt boys openly gay?"
His tweet, though seemingly made in curiosity, was not well received by fans. As if unaware of the backlash, Perez followed up with another tweet about BTS. He posted, "RT if you're horny for @BTS_twt!" and attached a link to a blog post about them from his website. While some fans found this funny, a lot of ARMYs found it disrespectful and distasteful as well.
Meanwhile, other celebrities aside from Perez Hilton have also posted on social media about BTS. One of them was The Chainsmokers, who posted a video with BTS before the awards show started. They also posted a group selfie on Twitter with the caption, "Love these dudes! See you guys this summer @BTS_twt." The tweet got more than 107,000 retweets and 153,000 likes in just a couple of hours. The two groups apparently spent some time together and hung out before the show, as seen on the photo uploaded by the BBMAs. Another celebrity present at the BBMAs was singer Halsey, who tweeted, "Ok I just met @BTS_twt and they are the coolest! WOW" Fans quickly replied to the tweet with comments like "Pics or didn't happen", "I NEED PICS OR VIDEOS PLS ANYTHING", and "BTS are kings".
