Sistar’s Contract With Starship Entertainment To Expire Soon - Will They Renew?
Sistar successfully debuted in 2010 with 'Push Push' after the 4-member girl group signed a contract with Starship Entertainment, sealing a 7-year deal. Now that 7 years have gone by since Starship took the girls under their wing, people are wondering whether Sistar will renew their contracts or not. After all, it's become a trend for older generation idol groups to leave their company and pursue a solo path. Rest assured, no decision has been officially made yet. An official from their agency said, "The girls are currently in discussion of renewing their contract."
However, despite their contract expiring soon, Sistar is still making a comeback on May 31st with a track produced by none other than Black Eyed Pilseung, who also previously worked on their other songs like 'Touch my Body' and 'I Like That'. It seems like their comeback will overlap with the time of their contracts' expiration but this doesn't seem to stop people from speculating. The girl group has had a good 7-year run with their label and has done quite well in terms of sales and promotions, so it will come as a surprise if ever any of them decides to discontinue.
Sistar reportedly had a schedule in Macau, where the group shot the music video for their upcoming title track. On May 17, a representative from Starship told Joy News 24, "Sistar will be leaving for Macau to shoot their new music video. Filming will begin tomorrow as the girls will be returning on May 21."
So will they or won't they? Sistar has amassed quite a number of fans for themselves over the years and it would be truly devastating once the 7-year-old group departs from Starship or comes back incomplete. We can only hope that their upcoming comeback is a sure sign and hint that Sistar will stay with Starship and continue to promote as 4 members.
