Nintendo's "The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild" is doing pretty well as of late alongside the company's hybrid console - the Switch. Such success could have been one of the reasons why the Japanese game and console maker decided to develop a "Zelda" title for mobile devices.

In a recent report by Wall Street Journal as cited by Kotaku, Nintendo is believed to expand the "Zelda" franchise as it is said to be heading towards smartphones and other ultraportables. It has yet to be known though whether it will be an original game for mobiles or a classic title from yesteryear that will be ported in.

Furthermore, the publication stated that the rumored "Zelda" game will follow another yet to be released mobile title dubbed "Animal Crossing" that is slated to be out during the second half of 2017. However, The Escapist claims that Nintendo has confirmed the release of the mentioned life simulator sometime in April 2018.

It can be recalled that Nintendo has promised to shell out five mobile titles by March of this year. Nonetheless, the company only managed to release three which are "Fire Emblem Heroes," "Mitomo"/"Miitomo," and the side-scrolling auto-runner - "Super Mario Run." The Kyoto-based company, on the other hand, has remained tight-lipped about the "Zelda" mobile app.

Just like the aforementioned "Zelda" app, rumor mills are also spinning about another "Pokemon" app. If such rumors are anything to go by, it is said that the title will be a card-based game though such speculations should be chewed on with extra salt.

The Zelda mobile game is reportedly being developed by DeNA, though its release date is undisclosed as of the moment. In the meantime, check out a video about the rumored mobile games that Nintendo is prepping up in the future:
