Fans Of ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ Raise Concerns Regarding Trainees Having No Mics
Viewers and fans noticed something significantly bothering during the latest episode of Produce 101 Season 2 that aired last Friday, on May 12. There may be no contestant scandal this time, but the Mnet program is once again receiving scrutiny - this time for not giving some trainees mics.
First, the fans noticed that some of their favorite trainees did not get much screen time. Afterward, upon reviewing the latest episode, they noticed that a few trainees had mic lapels while others did not. This meant that the staff already planned to cut other contestants' air time when they recorded last Friday's episode of Produce 101.
Various screenshots from the said episode floated on Twitter showing the trainees who had no mic lapels. Fans noted that the trainees who didn't get a mic include: HIM's Park Sung Woo, Yuehua's Justin, The Vibe Label's Kim Tae Dong, Brand New Music's Kim Dong Hyun, Pledis's Choi Min Gi and Hwang Min Hyun, Cube's Yu Seon Ho, Star Road's Takada Kenta, and Media Line's Lee Woo Jin. Moreover, fans demanded an explanation from the PD of Produce 101 Season 2, Ahn Joon Young. The hashtag #안준영_마이크_해명해 (#AhnJoonYoung_Explain_Mics) even trended on Twitter in the hopes that the staff of the show will release a feedback regarding the issue.
Issues aside, the 6th episode of Produce 101 Season 2 garnered a lot of attention after revealing the surprising and unexpected ranking of trainees. Major changes took place after the nation voted, with the usual top trainees falling behind and the underdogs skyrocketing up the ranks. Pledis trainee Kim Jonghyun jumped 7 spots and ranked #1 after Maroo's Park Ji Hoon fell to the 3rd place, while Brave Entertainment trainee Kim Samuel, who previously ranked #2, now failed to even enter the top 11. It's hard to estimate the next ranking now, seeing as this season of Produce 101 has been anything but predictable.
