There are certainly no treats in store for an unidentified soldier who tried to enter U.S. Army base Fort Bragg in North Carolina dressed as a suicide bomber for Halloween, and raised a security alert that included a search for explosives.

The Guardian reported Monday the soldier was wearing what appeared to be an explosive vest as he tried to pass a check at the army base on Saturday evening.

"Last evening a Soldier attempted to gain access to Fort Bragg through one of our access control points," said Fort Bragg in its official Facebook page.

Through the post, Fort Bragg also confirmed that the explosive vest was indeed fake and was worn as a Halloween costume.

The post has since been deleted, said Military.com. In subsequent Facebook statement, Fort Bragg said the post about the incident was deleted due to comments that were "profane, sophomoric, or did not treat the subject seriously."

In response to the situation, the gate to the base was briefly closed and explosive technicians searched the entire area.

CNN wrote Sunday the incident is still under investigation. However, it remains unclear if the soldier in question will be charged.

Residents of Fort Bragg were reportedly instructed not to dress in costumes of "such a nature and theme," Reuters wrote Sunday.

The Daily Mail added the residents are advised to wear costumes that are "appropriate" and "tasteful".

"The senior commander of Fort Bragg further directs that soldiers not wear costumes of this sort off post and strongly encourages soldiers, DA civilians, and family members to follow the same guidance to prevent similar issues within our neighboring communities," Fort Bragg said in a statement on Facebook.

Meanwhile, people online criticized the soldier for wearing the costume as it depicted disrespect to soldiers who were injured or killed by suicide bombers while performing their duties.

Fort Bragg is home to airborne and special operations forces. It is one of the largest United States military bases in the world.
