OnePlus 5: OnePlus Flagship Beats Samsung Galaxy S8 In Geekbench Scores, Release Expected In July
OnePlus 5 reportedly beats the Samsung Galaxy S8 in terms of Geekbench scores. As per reports, OnePlus 5 has managed to score 1963 in single-core and 6687 in multi-core. Notably, OnePlus 5 is reported to be incredibly cheaper than Samsung's flagship. Both will soon rival in the high-end Android smartphone market.
Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus unveiled its OnePlus 3T smartphone sometime last year, taking the market by a storm. The Chinese company is known to manufacture smartphones that pack high-end specifications but come at an affordable price. OnePlus has been rumored to be working on a new device - the successor to its OnePlus 3, 3T smartphones and apparently, OnePlus 5 is rumored to launch in July this year.
According to a report published by Digital Trends, while the OnePlus hasn't made any official comments regarding the speculated OnePlus 5 apparent launch, it is widely expected that the company might introduce the device in the summer of 2017.
OnePlus appears to have taken to Weibo - Chinese Facebook - to tease the upcoming device. They accompanied the teaser with an image that carried words like, "Hello 5," thereby suggesting that the OnePlus 5 is in fact, in the offing. As far as the name is concerned, there has been much confusion regarding the same. The company apparently skipped the number 4 as it is believed to be a bad Chinese omen and therefore, settled on the number 5.
The Verge has reported the smartphone to come packed with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 processor. The device should be able to pack a large 3,600mAh battery and may come in different storage variants namely 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB. The OnePlus 5 has even widely been rumored to be coming with a dual rear camera setup.
