All Blacks made a history on Saturday after defeating the Wallabies on the eighth Rugby World Cup that was held in England. New Zealand became the first team to retain their Webb Ellis Cup title after a 34-17 win against Australia.

The Telegraph forecasted that fly-half Dan Carter was honored with his third World Rugby player of the year award during the awarding ceremony held at Battersea Evolution in London. After receiving the award, Carter will join his captain Richie McCaw who was also a three-time recipient of the honor.

Carter surpassed Julian Savea, Michael Hooper, David Pocock, Greig Laidlaw and Alun Wyn Jones for the prestigious award.

Nzherald reported that New Zealand have almost bagged all the awards for this year's tournament, however, Wallabies coach Michael Cheika was hailed as the coach of the year dodging All Blacks coach Steve Hansen from getting the honor for four straight years.

Meanwhile, Sonny Bill Williams earns admiration from the crowd after giving his World Cup medal to a young All Blacks fan who ran on to the pitch after the team's victory.

"Just before he came to give me a hug he got smoked by one of the security guards and I felt pretty sorry for him you know," Williams said, as noted by Fox News.

"If that was a younger brother or cousin I would have given the security guard a hiding you know. But I just picked the kid up and took him back to his old lady and tried to make the night more memorable for him. Better (for the medal) to be hanging around his neck than mine," he added.

The All Blacks center was given a new World Cup medal during the awarding ceremony where he was also given a standing ovation by the audience. In addition, the All Blacks were named team of the year for six consecutive years.
