BTS is well on its way to breaking Taylor Swift's Billboard record for 28 weeks on the Top 50 chart. The K-pop superstar group has recently surpassed Miley Cyrus and Rihanna's 21-week record on the charts and maintains its position for the 23rd week in a row.

According to a report by Billboard, BTS or the Bangtan Boys are currently enjoying their 23rd week on the Billboard Charts since it started its reign in October 2016. With their current standing, BTS is now the third top performing artist in terms of a number of weeks in the charts. They follow Justin Bieber's 161-week streak and Taylor Swift's 28 weeks on top. With their current popularity, it will only take an additional 5 weeks for them to be tied with the "Bad Blood" singer and six weeks to surpass her record.

BTS has also been confirmed to join music superstars and legends in the prestigious awards in Las Vegas on May 21 after they scored an invite to the Billboard Music Awards 2017 from no less than event president Mike Mahan. BTS has been nominated for the BBMAs' Top Social Artist category because of their strong clout and popularity in on social media platforms. Their competition includes superstar Justin Bieber singer Bieber, "Hands to Myself" singer Selena Gomez, "Break Free" diva Ariana Grande and "Mercy" crooner Shawn Mendez.

BTS' fandom ARMY have proven a show of force from the onset of the voting, accumulating a record number of 20 million votes for their idols in less than 24 hours. ARMYs have also launched an online petition to ask that BTS be included in the roster of performers for the awards ceremony to promote diversity in the performances and to showcase BTS' music to the world.

"It was impossible to imagine that BTS would get where they are today, but I am thankful for it," Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Shi Hyuk said to Soompi about BTS' current success. "I believe that this is not the end of BTS's growth, and they will be able to continue to become even greater for many years into the future."
