BTS, BLACKPINK, IOI Songs Included In 'Produce 101' Season 2 List; Trainees Who Influenced Concept Matching Results Face Penalties
BTS, IOI, BLACKPINK and BoA's songs will be among the songs featured in the second round of "Produce 101". The 60 trainees on the reality show would need to prove their mettle with the selection of hits in order to secure their position as the competition becomes more fierce in the coming weeks.
Based on a report by All Kpop, each "Produce 101" trainee will be pitted against the trainees in the same category and will be whittled down at the end of the performance. For the vocal performances, BoA's "Amazing Kiss", Jung Seung Hwan's "If It Is You", BLACKPINK's "Playing With Fire", BTS' "Spring Day" and IOI's "Downpour" will challenge the skills of the vocalists.
For the rap battles, Zico's "Boys and Girls", iKON's "Rhythm TA" which was also featured in the show's first season, Simon D, One, G2 and BewhY's "Not the Same Person You Used to Know", as well as Song Min Ho's "Fear" will be the song choices of the trainees of "Produce 101". Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You", Flo Rida's "Right Round", Jason Derulo's "Get Ugly" and NSYNC's "Pop" will be up for contention.
Meanwhile, a report from Soompi indicated that "Produce 101" trainees Kang Daniel and Kim Dong Bin may be facing penalties for trying to influence the votes on which songs they would be assigned. It can be recalled that after Mnet released the list of songs that will be performed by the trainees, Daniel and Dong Bin reached out to their fans about which songs they would like to perform.
"Produce 101" trainee Kang Daniel hinted that he would like to get "Never" while Kim Dong Bin stated that he would like to take on "Open" or "Never." Mnet has released a statement about what they plan to do about the trainees who violated their rules of fair play. It did not indicate, however, if there were other trainees aside from Kang and Kim who tried to sway the fans' votes.
"'Produce 101 Season 2' holds fair play between trainees in highest value. We have confirmed that some trainees have influenced the concept evaluation matching polls through online media including social media," Mnet said about the "Produce 101" controversy. "The trainees that were found to have done so will receive a penalty of being prohibited from getting assigned the songs in question."
