BTS Confirms Attendance To Billboard Music Awards, Will Join Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Rihanna On Red Carpet
No less than Billboard's event president has invited the K-pop group to this year's Billboard Music Awards in which they are nominated for the category of Top Social Artist. As a result, Big Hit Entertainment may soon be confirming that Rap Monster, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, JHope, Suga, and V will be flying to the Los Angeles to attend the ceremony on May 21st.
According to a report by Koreaboo, it was Mike Mahan, president of Dick Clark Productions, which is in charge of the Billboard Music Awards who confirmed that they already sent out the invitation to BTS to join the event that is attended by superstars in the field of music. Mahan made the confirmation after an ARMY tweeted him whether BTS has been invited to the music awards.
ARMY or the official BTS fandom is one of the most devoted fandoms in K-pop and has been one of the main reasons that BTS has been growing in popularity in different parts of the world. They have propelled BTS' music videos to the most-watched status and kept the boys on top of the charts for weeks on end, making them stiff competition for international superstars. Just recently, they trended the BTS hashtag for the Billboard Music Awards with 8 million tweets on the first day of voting for their category.
Meanwhile, BTS is proving its popularity across various platforms at the K-pop group debuted at #1 on Tumblr's K-pop fandometrics list. BTS edged out some stiff competition in the process. EXO took the second spot while GOT7 placed third. MONSTA X, SEVENTEEN, SHINee, B.A.P., KARD, BIG BANG and TWICE rounded up the top 10 spots.
According to Soompi, Tumblr's fandometrics is the platform's database of entertainers and entertainment items that help them track their users' preferences. The results were derived from the use of tags, the searches for the tags reblogs and likes.
