Why Did Gong Yoo Apologize to His Mom After Winning Best Drama Actor for ‘Goblin’ at 2017 Baeksang Awards?
"Goblin" star Gong Yoo recently won Best Drama Actor at the 2017 Baeksang Awards.
While giving his acceptance speech, the actor talked about his mom and tears started falling down his face. Gong Yoo acknowledged the fact that he's not been spending much time with his mom because of his busy schedule.
"My mother sometimes gets disappointed and tells me that it feels like her son has become someone else's son. It's all because I haven't been good to her," Gong Yoo said. The actor also promised to visit his mom more frequently.
Gong Yoo went on to express his gratitude to all of his fans and supporters and said that he will be using his recent recognition to remind him of the importance of being grounded.
Meanwhile, Gong Yoo was up against the likes of Park Bo Gum for his performance in "Moonlight Drawn By Clouds," Jo Jung Suk for his acting in "Don't Dare to Dream" and Han Suk Gyu for "Romantic Doctor Kim." Also nominated is actor Namgoong Min for "Chief Kim." This is the second year that the latter has been nominated in the same category, according to Soompi.
Gong Yoo's onscreen counterpart, Kim Go Eun, was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama for her performance in "Goblin." She was up against Kim Ha Neul for "On the Way to the Airport," Park Bo Young for "Strong Woman Do Bong Soon," Park Shin Hye for "Doctors" and Seo Hyun Jin for "Another Oh Hae Young." Unfortunately, Kim Go Eun did not win over Seo Hyun Jin.
