iPhone 7 Specs Rumors: Apple Device To Use OLED; Company Getting Supply From Samsung?
Apple is rumored to use OLED display screen for iPhone 7 for a better resolution quality and lesser battery consumption, according to Tech Times.
Even though Apple recently launched their new phones, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6 Plus out in the market, a rumor is spreading that the upcoming iPhone 7 will be using OLED for its display panel.
Apple has joined the bandwagon together with the Android smartphone manufacturers who have been using OLED display for their products as of the moment. Apple has already used OLED screens for their Apple Watch but not with the smartphones yet. The Apple Watch display screen has garnered positive response from the consumers as the highlight feature, according to Tech Times.
Apple is rumored of getting OLED sample supply from Samsung making LG as not the only distributor of the hardware. LG has been recently supplying Apple with OLED display panel for the Apple Watch production. There are rumors that Apple will also equip the iPhone 7 with OLED to improve its display specification, according to DigiTimes.
The possibility of making the change happen will not be the only feature that Apple would be getting from the watch into their smartphones. The Force Touch technology is one of the features that is originally from the watch and is now encrypted into their iPhones system.
iPhones are currently using LCD screens which uses the backlight of the device to light up the pixels making it different from OLED's pixels that create their own light. The latter one can produce better contrast and true blacks for the phone's screen. The OLED's functionality will result to less battery usage, according to Tech Radar.
There's no final decision from Apple yet as they are expected to announce updates about the iPhone 7 in November if they will be switching the iPhone's screen from LCD to OLED. It is rumored that the new iPhone will not be released until September of 2016, according toTech Times.
