BTS ARMY Trends BTS Hashtag For Billboard Music Awards With 8 Million Tweets; Beliebers Trail With 400,000 Tweets

The BTS' ARMY fandom is proving to the world that they will stop at nothing to pick up the win for their beloved K-pop group when it trended the BTS hashtag for the Billboard Music Awards worldwide. BTS is nominated for the Top Social Artist category and is the only K-pop act to be nominated in this year's BMAs.

According to a report by All Kpop, Billboard announced that BTS as among the nominees for the Top Social Artist category along with superstars like Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and Shawn Mendez. The voting for the category opened yesterday to test the mettle of the different fandoms through different social media platforms.

On Twitter, ARMY members throughout the world easily trended #BTSBBMAs with 8 million tweets straight off the bat. Justin Bieber's Beliebers also trended his hashtag but was trailing by a large margin with only 400,000 tweets at the end of voting day 1. With its first day performance, ARMY members are proving that they're just as capable as their rival fandoms -- Beliebers, Arianators, Selenators and Mendez Army to win the award for BTS. 

The BTS ARMY is considered one of the most formidable fandoms in K-pop because of their unity and dedication in propelling BTS music to record highs. Constant streaming and sharing of BTS' "Spring Day" propelled the MV to become the first video to reach 20 million views in the fastest time. Its follow-up, "Not Today" also broke records for most number of views in 24 hours because of the ARMY's hard work.

The hard work of their ARMY is not lost on BTS members Rap Monster, Jimin, Jin, JHope, Suga, Jungkook and V. In a recent interview, BTS leader Rap Monster credited much of the group's international success to the hard work of their ARMY in interpreting and translating their music to different languages, enabling them to reach a wider audience throughout the world, Kpopstarz reported.

BTS' recent success in its Wings World Tour is proven by sold out arenas in all of their venues in the US, Europe, and Asia. The K-pop group also broke One Direction's 8-week record on the Billboard Top 50 chart as the most successful musical group to chart at 22 weeks. The winners of the Billboard Music Awards will be announced on May 21.
