Ross Butler is fast becoming one of the hottest young stars in Hollywood at present and for good reason, he's part of two popular high school dramas namely "13 Reasons Why" and "Riverdale." Unfortunately, Butler won't be back for "Riverdale" Season 2, but this might not necessarily mean bad news for the fans.

The CW is recasting the role of Reggie Mantle for "Riverdale" Season 2 due to Butler's inability to commit to the show. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that Reggie is expected to play a bigger part in the show next season, but Butler is "unavailable to come back to 'Riverdale'" due to his commitment to other projects.

In a separate interview, the 26-year-old star confirmed that he has a big project lined up, but is not at liberty to reveal any detail as of the moment. Butler's exit from "Riverdale" has stirred a huge buzz among fans and speculation is high that the big project he might be referring to is "13 Reasons Why" Season 2.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ross Butler is hoping to have a sophomore season of the hit Netflix series. "I think there's so much more to tell. I'm just crossing my fingers," Butler stated.

He also noted that a lot of the cliffhangers on the show have stuck with him, particularly Justin's decision to leave town and the fact that Tyler is hiding a stash of guns in his room. Ross Butler added that he wants to "see what that manifests into."

Many fans have taken Butler's statement as a hint that "13 Reasons Why" Season 2 is being tabled for renewal at Netflix. According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources said that writers have been working on Season 2 story for weeks.

A Season 2 renewal for "13 Reasons Why" is an anticipated move for Netflix, given the massive popularity of the show and the message it conveys.
