'One Piece's' Luffy Action Figure Pays Homage To One Of His Iconic Forms
MegaHouse has just released their latest collectible masterpiece under their Portrait.Of.Pirates toy line featuring "One Piece's" Straw Hat Pirates captain Monkey D Luffy. This time, however, the toymaker pays homage to one of the character's most memorable forms that he used in defeating one of the seven Sichibukais.
Released under MadHouse's "MAXIMUM" series, Luffy's most powerful form to date - the Gear Fourth Boundman is a fully detailed figure as it features the hero's insane physique as his whole body is covered with the Busoshoku Haki. For the uninitiated, the mentioned Haki utilizes the user's spirit force and turn it into an invisible armor backed up with huge amounts of strength, according to Otaku Mode. The "One Piece" collectible stands 11.8 inches and was masterfully sculpted by MAS (Pinpoint) and painted by Andou Kenji. The Luffy statue also comes with smoke details as it serves as its support stand.
Both artists have captured the time when Luffy transformed into the above-mentioned state as he is about to face Donquixote Doflamingo during "One Piece's" Dressrosa Arc. The battle is one of the most epic fights in the franchise as the Straw Hat captain delivered monstrous blows towards the feared sea warlord and ended the melee with a gigantic King Kong Gun.
Another toy company - Banpresto - also released a strikingly similar figure in 2014. However, the figure is smaller as compared to MegaHouse's.
Bandai will begin accepting preorders this April 28 and would-be buyers can check it out on Bandai's Shopping Site, including MegaTree, Shueisha, MegaHouse, and Jump webstores. Both Mugiwara and Toei online stores are also bound to take preorders as the "One Piece" figure comes with a price tag amounting to 16,799 yen ($150), Comicbook reported.
