Google is almost ready with the brand new camera being promoted as "next generation Jump camera. Priced at $16,999, the new device is called as Yi Halo, a company commenced in collaboration with Yi Technology, a Xiaomi-backed GoPro competitors, popularly known for its action cameras.

The configuration of Yi Halo comprised of 17 different Yi 4K cams and break-up of this - 16 along the circumference and one placed in the middle facing up, that's likely to result in seamless stitching of upward-facing views. The camera can generate 8K x 8k stereoscopc VR content at 30fps and 6K x 6K content at 60 frames per second. Sean Da, CEO of Yi, says that the camera gives full access to creators to choose their settings like ISO, white balance and flat color mode.

Weighing 7.7 pounds, VR camera is not only light, but it stands unique in VR world as against professional 360 cameras that are very heavy and cumbersome. The in-built battery promises continuous 100 minutes footage or plug into the wall with an AC adapter. CEO says that Yi Halo can accommodate batteries from third parties, that would provide top flexibility in the field, Engadget reported.

With a capacity to record 8K-resolution stereoscopic VR video along with the 17-camera setup, these are fastened together with Google's Jump Assembler. Yi Technology announced an year ago about the development of a 360-degree VR camera rig using Google's Jump platform. Now, at the NAB show in Las Vegas, the imaging company demonstrated the results - the Halo VR camera, CNET reported.

Halo is not just one camera, but 17 of them. Having 100 minutes of continuous recording, camera and a removable battery, there's also a real-time monitoring system in the Halo. Low battery level or full MicroSD card doesn't invalidate recordings. If one of the cameras get damaged, it can be swapped out fast for a new one and ready to sync with other cameras.
