Jessa Duggar-Seewald is defending herself from the public’s criticisms after social media users’ backlash over her fashion choices. On Easter Sunday, the “Counting On” star took to Instagram and posted a family photo that sparked discussions about the way she chose to dress her children for the celebration.

Taking a first look at the photo, Jessa Duggar-Seewald can be seen holding her baby Henry, whose name was only recently revealed in February, according to People Magazine. Older brother, 1-year-old Spurgeon, is being carried by his father, Ben Seewald. The children were dressed decently for Easter, but the reality star’s followers on Instagram spotted a concern about Henry and Spurgeon’s feet.

In particular, some of Jessa Duggar-Seewald’s followers criticized her for not including the shoes and socks for the boys’ Easter outfits. “Why do they not have shoes on?” one of her followers commented. “The ground is not clean. Use your head Jessa. The boys need to wear shoes when outside.”

In response, Jessa Duggar-Seewald revealed to her followers that her older son Spurgeon spent Easter Sunday mostly with shoes on. The mother-of-two was also quick to point out that the children were not in danger of coming across harmful objects while running around looking for treats because they were often being carried by the parents.

“We try. Spurgeon took his shoes off in the car, so we didn’t bother to put them back on,” Jessa Duggar-Seewald said in reply. “He’s still a baby, so we carry him around most of the time when we’re out and about.” Still, many of her followers defended the former “19 Kids and Counting” star.
“A little germs and dirt are good for the immune system. Not your kids, not your worry,” one fan wrote.

“There are studies that prove that at crucial times in a child’s development (like learning to crawl and walk), shoes can be detrimental, they don’t allow the child’s body to develop and perform the way it is supposed to,” another fan pointed out.

This has not been the only time that the 24-year-old reality TV star received public backlash over her wardrobe choices for her children. According to SheKnows, Jessa-Duggar Seewald was previously accused of posting an “immodest” image of Spurgeon in February, with the one-year-old decked in a onesie and a flannel shirt. One unhappy fan drew attention to the fact that Spurgeon was not wearing pants in the photo.
