Quantic Dream’s ‘Detroit’ For PS4 Announced; Game To Be Exclusively Released On Said Platform!
French developer Quantic Dream revealed their game called Detroit: Become Human. The "Beyond Two Souls" and "Heavy Rain" creator shared that "Detroit" is exclusive to PS4, according to Cinema Blend.
The PS4 game imagines a near future where androids live; and players take on as Kara.
"We wondered how we humans would react if we were confronted with a new form of intelligence, how androids conceived as machines would be perceived if they started to have emotions," said director, David Cage as he introduced the game on the PlayStation blog.
"We didn't want to do another story on AI. There are already so many great ones. We wanted to talk about what it means to be human and what it would be like to be in the shoes of an android discovering our world and their own emotions."
"Detroit: Become Human" may look very familiar. In 2012, PS3 showed a tech demonstration called Kara; a captivating android being tested and assembled. She felt emotions, and appeared to be aware. The android soon realizes that she will be sold in stores, and becomes disheartened. Kara thought she was human.
The scientist who was testing the android stated disassembling her because she was deficient. Kara started to plead, and cry; the scientist then sends her back to join other androids pending release.
After releasing the short in 2012, Cage said he always wondered what would happen to Kara once she has left the factory. "Detroit" answers that question.
Quantic has not revealed what type of game Detroit: Become Human will be. The creators though, are known for making interactive drama games. They especially and usually favor the story and characters. Their most successful game so far is 2010's "Heavy Rain."
Quantic Dream trailer and announcement did not include a release date for "Detroit: Become Human."
