United Airlines will never take passengers' seats: lesson learned from the 're-accomodation' incident

The horrible moment passengers experienced when they were dragged off from their seats was unforgettable. Dr. David Dao was one of the victims during the incident. It outraged social media because the rightful seat belongs to him, yet the crew pulled him out and the others because of overbooking. Now, the airline company should have overseen this and not do this kind of solution because it is not a solution after all.

In addition, floods of memes and offensive jokes are targeted to United Airlines themselves. Almost everything can be recorded with a smartphone these days and passengers that were unharmed took pictures and videos while the commotion is happening. United Airlines pledged to never remove passengers again from their seats from an overbooked flight. Now, the company is reviewing their policies and guidelines while the unforgettable incident is one lesson they would never forget.

The said compensation for removed passengers

Passengers who are chosen to be removed were compensated $800 for their trouble. However, not all have to accept that because passengers have different goals---one of that is to reach the destination to see their loved ones or fulfill a long-time dream. $800 is a decent amount to give up a passenger's seat, but it is not for those who have important matters.

A great lesson to other airline companies

"If your offer enough money, even the guy going to a funeral will sell his seat," Ross Aimer, a retired United pilot said, according to Telegraph. United Airlines Chief Executive Oscar Munoz apologized for what happened and he made sure that this would never happen again. However, the trauma and shock that was inflicted to other customers were unforgettable indeed. This lead to the airline company's sales plummeted down. What was done is done and it is time to move on. Hopefully, other airline companies would take this into their mindset and accommodate their flights properly to prevent this incident from happening.
