Jun Ji Hyun, Park Shin Hye, Lee Mon Se and 26 Other Celebrities Will Be Recognized For Their Contributions to Korean Culture at the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards
South Korean actress Jun Ji Hyun has been selected as one of the recipients of the president's award at the 2015 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards for her service to Korean culture and the global expansion of the Hallyu wave.
Today, the Chosun Ilbo revealed the 29 winners of the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards.
The selection was based on their activities, both locally and overseas, which contributed to the development of Korean culture, industry, and society. Each winner's popularity and reputation was also considered.
The "My Love from the Star" actress will receive the president's award together with six recipients which include DSP Media founder Lee Ho Yeon and singer Lee Moon Se.
The prime minister's award will be given to actress Park Shin Hye, actor Lee Jong Suk, boyband JYJ and singers IU and Kim Jong Kook.
AllKpop reported Tuesday idol group Girl's Day and trot singer Park Hyun Bin will be receiving the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourisms awards.
Actor Lee Deok Hwa and the late comedian Nam Sung Nam will receive the Order of Merit award in recognition of over 40 years of contributions to Korean culture, Soompi noted Tuesday.
The Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards will be celebrating its sixth year, Asia One wrote Oct. 22. It is hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism with the supervision of the Korea Creative Content Agency.
It is the highest recognition given by the government to the nation's movers in the entertainment industry.
Previous winners of the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards include actors Yoo Jae Suk, Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Min Ho, and female idol groups Girls' Generation and 2NE1.
This year's awarding ceremony will be held on Oct. 29 at the Main hall Hae of National Theater of Korea in Seoul.
