Xbox Scorpio Presents Better Kinect Port Alternative; No Exciting Games For 2017

Microsoft Holds Its Xbox 2016 Briefing During Annual E3 Gaming Conference

Project Scorpio hardware specs suggest that Kinect is a vital part of the Xbox ecosystem. However, it seems that the new platform is dropping the Kinect port over a $40 adapter that allows the use of peripheral with one of its USB ports and more external power supply. Incidentally, Microsoft offered a free adapter to the Xbox Scorpio users who bought an Xbox One Kinect and Xbox One, which have already expired.

Project Scorpio Will Be Compatible With Kinect Via Xbox Kinect Adapter

Project Scorpio is reported to be compatible with Kinect via the Xbox Kinect Adapter without any notable change due to the connection. Meantime, although the Xbox Kinect Adapter program is not being offered anymore, the adapter will still be available for purchase at select retail stores, including the Microsoft Store.

Meanwhile, to further discount Microsoft's long-term interest for Kinect, the tech giant plans to feature the adapter in the new retail Kinect packages have reportedly failed to develop. Moreover, the adapter's product page failed to emphasize the need for the USB adapter, which is believed to be far different from the previous "integral" Kinect that was launched along with the Xbox One, Polygon reported.

Project Scorpio Will Have No Exciting Games

Project Scorpio is expected to be powerful, given the 4K and VR powerhouse that are seen to beat Sony's PS4 Pro in terms of power. However, none of these seem to resolve the new console's biggest issue as reports claim that it will have no games worth getting excited about.

Meantime, Xbox fans got "Halo Wars 2," which is a neat strategy game, but not really a system-seller. In fact, further reports suggest that Microsoft's 2017 line up of games also has the same tune: "State of Decay 2," "Sea of Thieves" and "Crackdown 3." While the games look good, a lot of game experts believe that gamers will not rush to a store for a Project Scorpio for these games, TomsGuide reported.
