Korean Ex-Presidential Aide Questioned Again Over Involvement In Corruption Scandal
The corruption scandal which involved Korean former president Park Geun-hye is not yet over as the former presidential aide has been questioned and grilled for the third time regarding his alleged involvement. Woo Byung-woo, the ex-civil affairs secretary was interrogated over his participation in the corruption scandal that removed Park in her office.
Woo has been accused of interfering in the state affair and perhaps helping Park's friend Choi Soon-sil. Reports have confirmed that he abused his power in order to help Choi and the prosecutors were telling that Woo is the last piece that could solve this puzzle as to this scandal as per Daily Motion.
The ex-presidential aide appeared for questioning last Thursday at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. However, aside from his alleged involvement, some reports were claiming that he has been exuding an arrogant attitude which started when he first appeared in public post the impeachment of Park.
The latest questioning on him by the prosecution was the third time after he appeared before them last November and one last February that time with an independent counsel team. When he was also interviewed, he expressed his remorse over what happened to former president Parl. But he later assured the public that he will answer every question faithfully.
Apart from helping Choi, Woo has been also accused of penalizing people who were uncooperative during the administration of park besides from manipulating the government officials. Woo definitely and obviously abused his power while the other main suspects were already arrested including Park and Lee Jae-yong, Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman as per Japan Times.
One of the things which determined that Woo really abused his power started when the presidential office created a blacklist of officials to support those who are cooperative to the government. With this, he allegedly played a role in disciplining those officials who were uncooperative to the administration.
The court supposedly arrests Woo last February but this failed due to lack of evidence to indict him of the crime. But after the series of interrogation done with him, the prosecutor shall examine if they need to seek a warrant of arrest for him.
