George RR Martin

"Game of Thrones" author George RR Martin will be one of the guest speakers at the University of California in San Diego to talk about his life and literary work. This comes as welcome news for fans who have missed the author in the San Diego Comic Con in the past years and want to hear the latest updates on "Winds of Winter."

According to a report by Winter is Coming, "Game of Thrones" author George RR Martin will have a talk on May 2 at 7 pm at the Price Center Theater. Tickets start to go on sale on April 7 starting at $20 for faculty and staff and $40 for general admission.

As George RR Martin will speak about his life and his projects, fans are expected to ask about the much anticipated "Winds of Winter," the sixth book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga in which the HBO series "Game of Thrones" is based. It can be recalled that in an unprecedented event, the HBO series has overtaken its source material and aired material that has not yet happened in the published work.

Meanwhile, fans of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series are divided over their reception to the events in "Game of Thrones" Season 6. While the fifth book "Dance with Dragons" left events hanging with the death of Jon Snow by the hands of brothers in the Nights Watch, Game of Thrones Season 6 already showed the Lord Commander brought back to life by the Red Woman. The television series has also seen an end to the reign of Ramsey Bolton in Winterfell and the triumph of Cersei Lannister to secure the Iron Throne at a cost.

Based on the post of Eric Fuchs in the Fandom blog, he said that fans are growing impatient with the continued delays in the release of "Winds of Winter." However, Fuchs said that the reasons that George RR Martin had for the delays were valid and simply prove his commitment to getting things exactly right. He advised fellow fans to sit tight and enjoy the series for the meantime while waiting for Martin to finish his book.
