‘Steve Jobs’ 2015 Movie Reviews Undesirable As Film Flops In US Box Office!

The biographical movie "Steve Jobs" premiered earlier last week, and unfortunately is has been dubbed as "one of the worst opening weekends in box office history," earning only $7.3 million on its opening weekend according to The Guardian.

Based on the life of one of Apple's co-founder Steve Jobs, the movie stars German-Irish actor Michael Fassbender in the titular role. It premiered first on Sept. 5 at this year's Telluride Film Festival in CO, with limited release openings held in New York and Los Angeles on Oct. 9.

The movie was produced and directed by Danny Boyle, while it was distributed by Universal Pictures. "Steve Jobs" movie has been projected to earn around $19 million on its opening weekend.

However, ticket sales tanked upon its nationwide release, suffering the same fate from other movies such as "Jem and the Holograms" remake and the final installment of "Paranormal Activity," which premiered on the same schedule.

Not only it did not sell well at the box office, the latest biopic has been panned as well by both critics and fan ratings. Could it be because there is yet another media work inspired from Apple's co-founder? While Jobs is truly considered a genius in our time, his life story has been tackled over and over that he is no longer an "unknown commodity," according to Variety.

This is not the first time Job's life story has inspired a movie. Aside from published memoirs, there are about four documentary films and one movie about him. The first film, "Jobs," was released in 2013 which was produced and starred by Ashton Kutcher - which has also been panned by critics.

While it gained some good reviews at Telluride, it could also mean that people already knew Steve Jobs' life so well that there is no need for another movie or documentary for it. Also, people will no longer sit for an hour or so just to see another review of his story and his machines as stated in a report by Gizmodo.
