The DJI Mavic Pro is already a superb drone as it is, at least according to every review that the model has received. However, there is another way to make drone flying easier with the Mavic Pro. Apparently, with the external app called Litchi, users can fly their Mavic drone even more autonomously.

The main app for DJI drones called DJI Go already offers a number of intelligent flying modes. However, Litchi can go even further. This app has various modes that allow users of the Mavic Pro to fly the drone with a pre-set route.

The Orbit mode will allow Mavic users to define a take-off point and the drone will just fly in circles around that area. The camera will then be consistently pointed towards the center. Users can set the direction (clockwise/counter clockwise), speed, radius and a number of other factors for the drone's flight.

The Track mode of Litchi on the other hand, lets the Mavic Pro user draw a rectangle around a subject (usually a person or a car). The drone will then follow it around while keeping the camera focused on the subject.

Nevertheless, the most sophisticated mode that Litchi offers to the Mavic Pro drone is probably the Waypoint mode, 9to5Mac reported. This feature allows user to set a more specific program for the drone. Meaning, the Mavic can be set to go to pre-selected points and carry out pre-set actions at each one of them. This would allow the drone to fly at an irregularly shaped perimeter while constantly focusing the camera on a certain subject. Users can also set at which point the camera takes pictures or videos.

Moreover, there is also one photo-mode in the Litchi app. The Pano mode can be used to let the Mavic Pro take panorama shots. If the user has a VR headset, the app also offers a First Person View mode. This will provide the user a mock 3D FPV.

As for the app's pricing and availability, do note that it isn't as affordable as the regular apps on the app stores. Litchi is priced at $22.99, FStoppers reported. Nonetheless, the app is available for a number of other DJI drones apart from the DJI Mavic Pro. This includes the Phantom 4 Pro, Phantom 3 and Inspire.
