Parties, Presidential Candidates Call For New Start For Korea After Park's Arrest

Former South Korea President Park Geun-hye Summoned For Questioning

The different parties and presidential candidates are calling for a new start for Korea after the arrest of former president Park Geun-hye. It has been claimed that the presidential contenders and the parties were telling that the arrest showed equality before the law and this will pave way for a fresh start for the country.

The Democratic Party of Korea or the DPK also said that this was a reasonable conclusion since there is an impartiality of the principles and the law. With this, Rep. Youn Kwan-suk, the chief spokesman of the party said that everyone is equal before the law. He also expressed his hope that the decision will aid them reveal the truth regarding the presidential scandal which also distracted the affairs of the state.

The presidential contenders and the parties also expressed their hopes that this political turmoil will become an opportunity to truly reform Korea. They believe that this is the very first step to renew the damaged Korea. After that incident, Korean politicians must channel their focus into creating a clean and fair country as reported by Korea Times.

Meanwhile, Rep. Je Youn-kyung said that this is the start of the journey to clear up deep-rooted social turmoil and evils. He also added that this is a decision that might someday reflect the spirit of the times. The presidential aspirant also of the People's Party also mentioned the same view to the DPK's which he also called as an inevitable result.

Despite these expressions of hopes from some presidential candidates, conservative parties were somewhat doubtful on the necessity of the arrest of the former president. As per Bloomberg, they expressed their concern if the decision was based on the law and the principles as people also need to check if there was a room for an accusation without the imprisonment in the name of social unity.

Moreover, the Liberal Party of Korea, of which former president Park is still a member expressed their views regarding this. The party released a short statement telling that what happened is deeply regrettable. Like the other parties and the presidential candidates, they also hope that Korea will no longer repeat this incident of having a former president imprisoned.
