2PM News and Updates: Chansung To Make Debut As Stage Actor In 'My Love, My Bride' Adaptation
2PM's Chansung may be familiar with performing on stage as a member of a K-pop group but he will perform in a different way when he makes his debut as a stage actor in June. The 2PM maknae has been confirmed to take the lead role in the stageplay adaptation of "My Love, My Bride."
According to a report by Soompi, the play is an adaptation of a 1990 romantic comedy top billed by Park Joong Joon and Choi Jin Sil. The classic was such a success that it even spawned a remake in 2014 starring Jo Jong Suk and Shin Min Ah. Chansung will take on the lead male role of Young Min but his partner is yet to be named.
"My Love, My Bride" is a story of a young couple who immediately delve into marriage immediately after they graduate. However, the happiness brought on by their impulsive decision was short lived as they gradually began to realize the challenges and responsibilities that marriage entails, Click The City reported. Chansung's youth is expected to add realism to his portrayal of the role.
This will not be Chansung's first foray into acting as he has already appeared in dramas like "High Kick", "Dream High", "Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim" and "7th Grade Civil Servant". He has also acted in movies like "A Dynamite Family" and "Waseruyuki".
Chansung has more than the stageplay to keep him busy these days as he has also been cast to play genius detective Han Hee Joon in the upcoming drama "Housewife Detective." He will play the boss of Myun Yoo Jin, a housewife who needs to find work because of financial troubles and lands a job as the assistant of the detective. Myun Yoo Jin will be played by Jang Nara.
In the"My Love, My Bride" stageplay, Chansung is expected to combine the skills he has mastered as a performer and as an actor as he seeks to entertain a live audience by bringing the story to life on stage. The play is set to run from June 2 to July 30 in Seoul.
