3 Reasons Facebook Stories Can Overtake Instagram & Snapchat

Facebook recently updated its mobile app with Snapchat like stories. Facebook stories are now rolling out to everyone on the Facebook mobile app, after launching on Whatsapp and Messenger over the past few months. The latest feature offers an innovative filter with a new in-app camera as well as a direct messaging feature.

Facebook stories have been on trial in few countries since January. The new feature works exactly like Instagram and Snapchat. The stories went live above your NewsFeed for 24 hours and can include both videos and images with a variety of filter effects.

The Facebook mobile app is now also updated with a dedicated camera button for the users to snap their favorite moments and share it with their friends. The dedicated camera button motivates the users to share some goofy filtered photos with their friends or some selected friends. But Facebook stories Filters are more than just trivial additions.

People are sharing more visual content than ever with Facebook stories. These effects are a way to augment and provide context for the moments being shared on screen. The company actually acknowledged Snapchat as the pioneer in the space during a press event noting that it's the best visual way of today's communication.

Facebook dedicated hired a small team of an artist for creating the filters. These Facebook stories filters are different for different regions so that they will be relevant to everyone using them. The social media giant is also partnering with different brands including Minions, Wonder Woman, Power Rangers and Masks in order to introduce new ways of communication for the Facebook community.

Stories feature makes Facebook a very different app from the rest of the mobile applications. It even allows users to share their stories directly onto the timeline or on the News Feed as well, making them more visible to the friends. Instagram and Snapchat were the biggest rivals when it comes to stories, now it can be possible Facebook stories might overtake both the apps.
