Daesung's Korean fans celebrated the release of his Japanese mini-album "D-Day" on Tuesday in both South Korea and Japan. The album includes seven tracks and has landed on Japan's iTunes chart. Fans on Twitter also made the release of the new album trend online.

According to allkpop, the 27-year-old Big Bang member's fans helped cause an online buzz by trending the hashtag #Kang Dae Sung_Congratulations on the your_solo album. His first trot single "Look at Me, Gwison" released in 2008 also regained traction and even reappeared on a local music chart. The last song he released in Korea as a solo artist was way back in 2011 for MBC's drama "What's Up" OST "Lunatic."

The "Baby Don't Cry" singer claimed he never planned to be a solo artist despite achieving immense popularity as a Big Bang member. "Even in BIGBANG, I was just a member who was supporting the other members from behind, but my Japanese company CEO suggested a solo, so that's how I got started," Soompi quoted him as saying during a recent interview. Daesung revealed that becoming a part of Big Bang altered the course of his life. He said, "I was working towards becoming a singer, but I never thought that I would become someone who would be loved for 10 years and do concert tours around the world."

The singer joked he'd probably be playing computer games if he didn't end up as part of Big Bang. He added that he adds a balancing factor for the team to keep the other members G-Dragon, T.O.P., Taeyang and Seungri from fighting. The rest of the members are also focusing on their individual projects since T.O.P. enlisted in the military in February. Daesung and Seungri are expected to be the last Big Bang duo to enlist in the military after G-Dragon and Taeyang.

Daesung's first solo Japanese album "D'scover" was released in 2013 with the hit tracks "Wings" and "Baby Don't Cry." He released another album "D'slove" and a mini-album "Delight" the following year. He'll embark on his "D-lite Japan Dome Tour 2017" in April.
