"Attack on Titan" season 2 is confirmed by the series director and it will be released sometime next year in 2016, according to MNR Daily.

The last episode of "Attack on Titan" or "Shingeki no Kyojin" season 1 revealed that there are other humans that can transform into the giants called Titans aside from the protagonist, Eren Yaeger. There was also an announcement in the past that the anime will have to wait for a while due to story arcs in the manga version.

Tetsuro Araki, the series director, confirms that the anime will be released with its second season sometime next year, according to Crossmap. The season 1 has already covered many chapters of the manga already, specifically 34 chapters of it. There are 4 story arcs that have been covered which are, "The Fall of Shiganshina," "104th Trainees Squad," "Battle of Trost District" and "The Female Titan."

The end of the first season has shown some interesting points like the true nature of the Titans, what the wall is made of, and the revelation of humans that could transform into Titans, according to sources.

In order for the second season to show, the manga should at least to be 4 arcs ahead of the series, according to sources. This is a valid move for the series director.

Season 2 will be about the 104th Trainees Squad battle against the giants which have already pushed through the wall. The arc of overthrowing the corrupt king, "The Uprising", will be led by Erwin Smith. Following that arc will be the "Clash of Titans" story arc.

"Attack on Titans" season 2 will also reveal the source of Eren's capabilities to transform into a Titan and also will reveal more humans transforming into Titans aside from Reinier and Bertolt.
