Despite being the recipient of success before, Super Junior's Henry remains very humble and admitted that he was surprised by the success of his new song "Girlfriend." He shared that working on the song brought him to a lot of realizations about his own artistry.

According to Soompi, Henry was the most surprised when his song came out as the #1 song on the music charts. He was even more overwhelmed by the positive feedback he received because of "Girlfriend."

Henry shared that appearing in an episode of Yoo Hee Yeol's "Sketchbook" while he was working on the song helped him a lot because he got a lot of good ideas from the host. He said that writing the lyrics and the melody came to him more easily after his interaction with Yoo Hee Yeol.

Upon learning that his song topped Genie, Soribada, Olleh Music, and Bugs, Henry quickly took to his Instagram to convey his gratitude. A special thanks went out to the people who supported him even though the road wasn't always so smooth.

Having the fans acceptance for the song meant a lot to the Super Junior member. Henry said that he developed a better confidence in his abilities as an artist and his music. He added that it felt good when he heard people singing "Girlfriend" when he sat down for dinner at a restaurant.

"I will create more music with this newly received confidence, so please look forward to it," he promised his fans. "This song was not only made by myself but with the people that love me."

Henry proved that he will not simply rest on his laurels when it comes to making music. He said that he is already hard at work on his next song and hopes that it will match the standards that he has set for himself with "Girlfriend."
