‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ Remake Cast Confirms Laverne Cox; Actress To Portray Who?

Laverne Cox will portray Dr. Frank-N-Furter for Fox's Rocky Horror Picture Show Remake.

Boosting the production's cast contingency, Laverne Cox will be joining the whole set for filming. The Rocky Horror Picture Show remake is being produced by Fox 21 TV and Jackal Group according to The Wrap.

Kenny Ortega, who made "Hocus Pocus" and "High School Musical," will also be directing and choreographing the movie. The said reboot will be filmed in advance. Gail Berman, former president of entertainment at Fox Broadcasting Company, and Lou Adler produced the original movie of Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Wrap said.

Their objective is not to stroll away from the original movie instead, they want to stay close to the original innuendo-storyline and script back in 1975. Apart from assuring and making its audience enjoy watching the movie, the priority of the film makers and crew of the show is to fill in the Rocky Horror Picture Show Remake's lead role.

As it has been revealed, we learnt that the "Orange is the New Black's" Laverne will play the mad scientist, Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Laverne posted a statement using her Twitter account to express her happiness as she will be playing the lead role, LA times stated.

The 31-year-old actress will take responsibility to reimage the classic character which was originally portrayed by  Tim Curry in both movie and musical, according to News.com.au.

Additionally, Brad and Janet who slipped upon Dr.Frank-N-Furter's castle when their car breaks down will be portrayed by Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick, respectively.

More so, Laverne was the first transgender actor who had been nominated For Emmy's. She played the role of Sophia Burset, a transgender inmate on "Orange is the New Black" movie. She also has a co-starring role in CBS' legal drama pilot, Doubt.

In addition, she participated on Paul Weitz's feature comedy, Grandma, News.com.au reported. The  Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word, Laverne Cox's documentary, won a Daytime Emmy Award.

Meanwhile, while fans are still waiting for the Rocky Horror Picture Show Remake, there has been no confirmed date on when it will be available for screening in 2016. Supporters of the said film is thrilled to watch Laverne Cox to portray upon Dr.Frank-N-Furter.
