iHeartRadio Music Awards 2017: Fifth Harmony Was The Real Winner; Not Zayn Malik!
Steve Harvey had done it first during the Miss Universe 2015. Then, the recent Oscars 2017 had done it again. But it did not stop there because the recent iHeartRadio Music Awards 2017 pulled the same fiasco after awarding Zayn Malik by mistake. It was actually Fifth Harmony and Ty Dolla $ign who won the best Music Video for "Work From Home."
The iHeartRadio Music Awards 2017 took place on March 5. The award-giving body first gave the title to the former One Direction member for his music video "Pillowtalk." The solo artist later thanked the fans who voted for him in one of his Snapchat videos.
However, it appears that the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2017 committed an accidental mistake and later announced that Fifth Harmony got the title. Instead of giving an apology, they stated that Malik won the "Best Solo Breakout" award.
NME reported that his fans were not really convinced and thought that he deserved the first title. Malik's fandom created the hashtag "#iHeartWasRigged" which became viral on Twitter. the management behind the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2017 released these following statements via Twitter as well:
"We want to apologize to all fans for the confusion. Incorrect messaging was pushed out on Saturday night during rehearsals. (Pt.1)." Then followed by this: "Combining Online, Digital and Social Media voting, fans voted Fifth Harmony as the winners for #BestMusicVideo at our #iHeartAwards. (Pt.2)," referring to the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2017 mistake. Lastly, they wrote that "Zayn was the winner of Best Solo Breakout artist at the #iHeartAwards. Congratulations again to all of our winners! (Pt.3)"
