Recently, Netflix has dominated not only the American industry but also the other parts of the world, including Korea. This has even strengthened when the streaming service has announced about creating a Korean drama that will involve zombies on a Korean Chosun Dynasty setting.

According to Koreaboo, Netflix Korea has announced on March 6 that they will release "Kingdom," a Korean historical thriller that revolves on zombies next year.

"Kingdom" will be headed by famous director Kim Sung Hoon, who is known for his unique film "The Tunnel." Together with him will be Kim Eun Hee who will be in charge of writing.

"Kingdom's" plot will center on a prince of the Chosun Dynasty, which happened around 1392-1897. The prince will attempt to end the great epidemic that is happening in his country.

This new Korean content is a way for Netflix to expand itself in the international setting, and this is the same sentiment of Vivek Couto, the executive director of consultants at Media Partners Asia.

"The Korean content category is becoming vital... It has high production value and the content travels," Vivek Couto explained.

As of now, Netflix is about to premier a series entitled "Love Alarm" next year. This is going to be their first original K-drama series and it is based on Chon Kye Young's famous webtoon series.

Meanwhile, Erik Barmack, who is the Vice President of International Originals at Netflix, shared his excitement abut the original Korean series. He also expressed about being honored because of this as they will cater to their international audience.

Together with "Love Alarm" on Netflix as the first Korean series next year, it will also feature "Kingdom" as the second original Korean thriller series. This only shows how the Korean drama industry is making way to be introduced to the international viewers.
