‘Shadowhunters’ Season 2B: Katherine Mcnamara Talks Clary-Simon Relationship, Teases Jace Romance

The midseason finale of "Shadowhunters" Season 2 featured several exciting scenes and a revelation that could change the lives of the Freeform series' beloved characters. Recently, Katherine McNamara shared her thoughts about her character Clary's relationship with Simon (Alberto Rosende) and whether the said protagonist might have a chance to rekindle her romance with Jace (Dominic Sherwood).

"Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode 10 ended with several story twists that included Jace's ability to activate the Soul Sword given his angel blood, as well as Simon's new found skill to walk in the sun despite being a vampire. Titled "By the Light of Dawn," the Freeform series' midseason finale also included Valentine's (Alan Van Sprang) revelation that Clary and Jace are not siblings.

The truth behind Jace's parentage will soon be revealed to other characters and viewers can expect to see a potential redevelopment of his romance with Clary. However, avid Clary and Jace fans might have to wait a while before the said situation will happen. In a recent interview with TVLine, Katherine McNamara commented that the Clary and Simon relationship has just begun and will form an integral part of her character's arc.

Acknowledging the many "Shadowhunters" fans who have been clamoring for a reconciliation between Clary and Jace, the actress also mentioned that the Freeform series' writing team cannot simply break-up Clary's romance with Simon given the recent revelation of Jace's true parentage. She added, "These characters all have such long journeys ahead of them ... We can't just jump straight to the relationships that people want to see."

Meanwhile, showrunner Todd Slavkin told Entertainment Weekly that the upcoming episodes of "Shadowhunters" Season 2 will feature a love triangle between Simon, Clary and Jace. He teased that the three characters' relationship with each other will become "more complicated" especially with Jace knowing the truth about his family.

The midseason finale of "Shadowhunters" aired on March 6. The Freeform series is set to return to the small screen on June 5.
