The Voice Season 12 Airs With Gwen Stefani; Highlights of the First Blind Auditions Here
The Voice Season 12 opened up with Gwen Stefani as the new coach. The No Doubt singer replaced Miley Cyrus who was the judge in Season 11. She joined her beau, Blake Shelton, along with Maroon 5 lead vocals Adam Levine and Alicia Keys.
The viewers first saw Stefani as a mentor and then temporarily replaced Christina Aguilera in 2015. The latter needed to take her maternity leave that time. But it seems that Stefani will be sitting in the red chair for good starting The Voice Season 12.
As we all know, Stefani and Shelton developed their love story on the show. The country singer had broken up with ex-wife Miranda Lambert in July 2015 while Stefani shocked the public for filing divorce papers against her husband of 13 years, Gavin Rossdale. Furthermore, it appears that the viewers will see more of their on-cam romance in The Voice Season 12.
Although Stefani replaced Miley Cyrus for this season, it looks like she is making a big comeback in The Voice Season 12. The first blind auditions were quite a blast for her because so far, she already has three proteges on her side.
Entertainment Weekly notes that Gwen Stefani is determined to have a "girl power" in her team. So far, she has three picks along with Shelton and Levine. Meanwhile, Alicia Keys has the most number of proteges with four. Below are the final standings in the first blind auditions for The Voice Season 12:
Team Adam: Johnny Hayes, Mark Isaiah, Jesse Larson
Team Gwen: Joshua "JChosen" Hunter, Stephanie Rice, Savannah Leighton
Team Alicia: Anatalia Villaranda, Felicia Temple, Autumn Turner, Lilli Passero
Team Blake: Lauren Duski, Brennley Brown, Aliyah Moulden
On the other hand, AOL noticed that the love birds cannot help but show their affection during the first episode of The Voice Season 12. The website notes that albeit the competition, Shelton and Stefani still managed to show the audience their romantic gesture.
