6th GAON Chart K-Pop Awards Complete List of Winners
The 6th GAON Chart K-Pop Awards is an annual ceremony that gives titles to the deserving artists all over South Korea. The event happened on February 22 at the at the Jamshil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul. Super Junior member Lee Teuk and MAMAMOO's Solar hosted the prestigious event.
Notably, GAON Chart determines the winning artist by the chart overall performance in 2016. The numbers focus on the sales of songs and albums rather than the popularity of the artists. Both Korean boy and girl groups dominated the major categories. Notably, EXO won a whopping four major awards while female groups Blackpink and Twice stood out on the 6th GAON Chart K-Pop Awards.
More than the event itself, the performers also wowed the audience. Soompi reported that fine Korean solo artists and groups such as NCT 127, BLACKPINK, MAMAMOO, Urban Zakapa, Bolbbalgan4, TWICE, Dean, BewhY, Han Dong Geun, GOT7, GFRIEND, SISTAR, BTS, and EXO were an unforgettable lineup.
