‘Shadowhunters’ Season 2 Episode 9 Spoilers: Clary’s Life In Peril In ‘Bound By Blood’

The upcoming episode of "Shadowhunters" Season 2 will pit Clary (Katherine McNamara) against Downworlders who believe her death will help to stop Valentine's (Alan Van Sprang) plan. Apart from trying to evade capture, Clary will be faced with fulfilling a blood oath to save Iris' (Stephanie Belding) god-child.

Avid viewers of the Freeform series recently witnessed the development between Clary and Simon's (Alberto Rosende) relationship that shifted from platonic to romantic. Featured in "Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode 8 that aired on Feb. 20, Clary gave Simon a kiss after he finally confessed his feelings for his long-time best friend.

However, the new couple's happiness will be overshadowed by Clary's new challenges that will include a threat to her life. In "Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode 9, the discovery of the said protagonist's role in Valentine's plans will push other Downworlders to consider killing Simon's girlfriend to stop the said villain, according to episode spoilers posted on Spoilers Guide.

Titled "Bound by Blood," Clary will continue to find a way to stop Valentine but her blood oath with Iris will put a dent to her plans. However, repaying her dues might place Clary directly on the said villain's path. Given how Valentine has Iris' god-daughter Madzie (Ariana Williams) as his prisoner, Clary might have no choice but to seek her father out in order to save Madzie and fulfill her blood oath promise.

In other news, McNamara recently shared her thoughts about Clary and Simon's new relationship. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actress expressed her appreciation on how the Freeform show's writing team developed the two characters' love story.

McNamara also commented on how much the two best friends' have matured from the show's first season. Given Clary and Simon's new romantic relationship, viewers can expect to see the couple "leaning ... heavily on each other in [a] new way," according to the actress.

"Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode 9 will be released on Feb. 27, Monday, on Freeform.
