K-Wave 2016: K-pop's Biggest Downfall
Korean pop or K-pop is referred to as the increasing popularity of South Korean music, dramas, movies and artists. K-pop has dominated the globe through creating music and dramas that delighted everyone, especially the Millennial. This is also because K-pop is eminent for producing artists that has exceptional visuals and talents. Aside from this, K-pop has now gained public interest not just within South Korea but internationally, thus, the extensive interest of people for Korean culture, fashion and music has evolved unexpectedly.
Since the widespread of Korean wave, k-pop has been k-pop fanatics' safe haven. Hence, immense or slight issues concerning their idols would affect them as well. However, the most depressing and dreadful year for K-pop fan girls has manifested in 2016. The year 2016 was apparently the biggest downfall of K-pop. This is because it is during this year that K-pop group disbandment, idol's intolerable actions and issues, k-pop entertainment hurdle, and the unsatisfactorily year-end activities of idols unfolded. Even so, what shattered everyone was the disbandment of three of Korea's renowned K-pop groups.
The year where K-pop fan girls thought that 2ne1 is having their comeback, it turned out that the group's unanticipated yet splendid performance in MAMA 2015 was their last performance as 4-member girl group. As reported by billboard.com, 2ne1 officially disbanded as of November 25, 2016. 2ne1 has been in the entertainment industry for almost 7 years. They are eminent for their badass yet sexy style. They were also considered Korea's legendary group. Regrettably, their journey as a group has come to an end. To everyone's surprise, three members of the group, CL, Dara and Bom released a final single dedicated to their fans as a farewell song. This surprised the fans but at the same time brought tears as they bid farewell to the group. Nevertheless, the members of the group hoped that they will again meet and perform on stage in the next few years.
Kara also set the media in buzz after announcing that the group officially went separate ways. According to the reports made by billboard.com, KARA didn't renew their contracts and chose to go separate ways. It was January 15, 2016 when three members departed from the group. To everyone's dismay, another k-pop group has saddened everyone. After 7 years of being together, legendary K-pop group, 4 minute, announced their disbandment. According to the news disclosed by allkpop, a representative from Cube Entertainment said that as soon as their contract expires on June 15, 2016, they will not continue performing as a group anymore. They may not have been the most renowned group in the K-pop industry but they have showcased their sexy and chic style that has swept many fans. Despite the news of these unfortunate breakups of K-pop girl groups, fans of these groups aspire and desire that in the next years, they will again reunite and perform on stage without regrets and issues.
