Seo In Guk's Life From Scratch: How His Mother Collected Cardboard Boxes From Garbage Made Him Survive

What started from nothing, ended up with something big. Seo In Guk came from an extremely poor family. His mother collected cardboard boxes straight from garbage bins, recycles it, and sold it in exchange for money. Seo In Guk and his family almost had nothing; they even barely have money for food. However, because of strong will and unconditional care of his parents, all of them were able to survive.

The values and importance that he gives his parents are visible on how he speaks to them. Despite being one of the most popular Korean actor and singer Seo In Guk is now, he has never failed to give respect to them.

Seo In Guk loves his mother so much and he is very thankful for having her. Her mother lived the hard life and although she kept on telling Seo In Guk that she is okay, he still feels bad as a son. Even a few years after he has officially debuted as a star, his mom continues to gather cardboard boxes and he is so proud of her.
"My mother lived an extremely hard life. There were times when my heart would ache [thinking of her]. She would constantly tell me she was okay, but as a son, I still felt uneasy. For Lunar New Year, I think I'll be able to go home with a proud heart. I gave her the most thoughtful gift in my life," he said.
To show his mom about how grateful he is for having her, Seo In Guk bought a cafe and naming it after her. He also assured that it will be beautifully renovated as his mom.
The said interview also gave way for acknowledging Seo In Guk's dad. He said he remembered fishing with him and now that he is getting older, he should make it a point to spend time with him.
