The new event for the hit ARG "Pokemon Go" is for the Valentine's Day. It features extra candy as well as other more exciting ways to celebrate the event.

According to the official "Pokemon Go" website, the development team said that the event gives trainers twice as much Pokemon candy when catching, hatching, and transferring Pokemon. Also, the trainers' buddy Pokemon finds Pokemon candy twice as fast.

The real draw in the event, however, is the increased spawn rate of pink-colored Pokemon, especially for those still trying to work on their Pokedex completion. These include Chansey, Clefable, Jigglypuff, and many other adorable monsters having the same color.

There is another secret addition to the update, however. According to the official Reddit page for "Pokemon Go" The Silph Road, the entire tier system for egg hatching was changed, and a lot of 5km-egg category Pokémon were moved into the 2km category while a few 10km Pokemon were moved to the 5km tier.

The Pokemon moved to the 2km category include Abra, Bellsprout, Cubone, Diglett, Ekans, Exeggcute, Gastly, Goldeen, Krabby, Machop, Nidoran, Oddish, Seel, Slowpoke, Venonat, and Voltorb. As for those moved to the 5km, it includes Pinsir, Scyther, and Onix.

The change is unannounced, but a lot of players reported it after the Valentine's Day event started. It is unknown if it is a bug or a temporary arrangement, but it is agreed that the change is a permanent reshuffle that greatly benefits players.

A possible reason behind the change is the fact that the 5km-tier is overloaded with too many Pokemon. For trainers, it means that getting the Pokemon they were looking for took a lot of time as the chances of obtaining the monster they desire are pretty low.

Now, with a lot of Pokemon out of the 5km tier, the pool of possible Pokemon is now manageable while boosting the 2km-tier with monsters other than bugs and birds. The trade-off is that it is now harder to get a starter Pokemon out of the 2km eggs as the percentages are lowered.
